Fender Super Champ XD - Yesterday Meets Today at Yesterdays Prices
Well having been sold on an Genz Benz Inky Pearl All Rank A Tube amp, I give access to I have been hooked on the large sound that comes from exact warm tubes. I was in the minstrelsy store one day and found out that Fender had reissued some of its old amps with a new twist. I dearly be fond of my Black Margarite, but she weighs a bit and is also a bit much for the bedroom workshop. That being said I was on the lookout for a smaller amp that I could romp in my small workshop and also easily convey to small habit/jam sessions. I tried the Super Bite XD and found it was exactly what I was looking for. At a highway price of $299, abiding-place it went with me after a proof drive at the supply.
The basic specs on it are:
15 Watts of ableness thru a Fender 10″ discourser, Tube and Digital Modeling preamps using 12AX7A tubes, hollow cylinder power amp division using two 6V6 tubs (Rank AB), and on board digital goods.
The amp has two channels, the first duct tuned to whole like a exquisite clean Fender Dark face amp using the 12AX7A hollow cylinder for the preamp portion and the 6V6’s for the competency amp. The second canal using Fenders Digital Amp Modeling for the preamp (bypassing the 12AX7A pipe) and uses the 6V6 tubes for the ableness amp. The two channels then apportion the same tone controls and furniture.
I would have to say that for 95% of my playing the first duct hits the blot. It has great traditionary Fender tube sounds, critical and clean and jangly. There is equitable a plain old whirl knob, no gainings, just unspotted tone. At sink volumes it has that exquisite clean sound, but crank up the turn and out comes a definite growly pipe overdrive. Back off your bear down upon at this volume and it cleans up exquisite, dig in for the good substance as needed.
The next to the first channel, with its digital modeling is entirely fun to play with. The amp models descend into some basic groups: Fender Tweed, Fender Blackface, British (peruse Vox AC30 and Marshall), Fender Hot Rod, Metal, Jazz, and Acoustic. Other then the Jazz and Acoustic which lawful have one setting, the other models have 3 not the same spins on each, ranging from unsoiled to dirty and in between. This channels input part has a Gain and Contortion so you can vary the deformity and grind raw material.
